Last week, funded by the grace of donations to her fund, Rebecca’s body was exhumed from her resting place in Missouri and flown to Pennsylvania where Dr. Cyril Wecht performed a second autopsy (without charge).
On November 1, TWO months after the SDSO closed the case on the Coronado Mansion deaths, Anne Bremner, attorney for the Zahau family, finally received the police reports. Thus far we have learned:
1) Only three people were processed and fingerprinted: Adam Shacknai, Rebecca’s 13-year-old sister, and Nina Romano, Dina’s twin sister;
2) Investigators were not concerned with Rebecca the day of Max’s accident, approximately 28 hours prior to her death;
3) Rebecca’s computer turned up no signs of searches on suicide or ropes;
4) Many items were not analyzed, such as black gloves and clumps of hair found inside the home;
5) Women’s underwear and clumps of hair were found in the trash can in the guesthouse; and
6) Confirmation that witnesses saw Nina Romano at the door of the mansion at 10PM the night Rebecca died.

Although there were a few discrepancies in the first part (extra footprints on balcony, prior exposure to PC knot-tying video, front rather than side roll over railing), we learned that, given Rebecca’s weight and 9 foot drop, the bed would have moved 5 times farther than documented in the SDSO report.

Earlier in the week, it was disclosed that Jonah Shacknai sold the Spreckels mansion to the investment group, 1043 Ocean LLC, for an undisclosed amount. He purchased the mansion in 2007 for $12.75 million. The new investors have it listed at $14.75 million.

Wow! I really don't know what to say other than wow! I was so frustrated catching up on Patch. I have to say that you all did a fantastic job the past two jobs shutting everone down. I can't even keep up right now let alone compete with the madness. Just keep up what you are doing. I am smiling and giving high fives from afar (for what they are worth).

Just ignore and don't fall for it. That seems to be the only tactic that is working at the moment. You guys are all such good hearts, they found a weak spot with religions. You know it and I know it, it ain't true. None of you are biased against Judaism. Don't fall in that trap! Continue your excellent work instead! (yes, my niche is apparently the cheerleader!!)
I just have to add, at the tail-end.. loved the bed video. However, the arguments about the bed and the rope.... where are the damn footprints??? I'm jusf sayin'!
So I asked the question.. How far does the bed move if the same weight is hung from below vs over the railing? I was told that test was done and the answer they got was 12inches.. Does that sound closer to 7.5 than 36inches? I think anyone (SDSO) that did this test could see which was more likely.
ReplyDeletebbl - re: b.gladney - i am with you! i don't consider these guys as individuals because they are a paid team - working very well together. there is a set agenda - first be diruptive; next take down the ring leader; then, flag and delete random comments; following that, detract from main issue by talking about max's death; make rebecca look like a child killer so there is little sympathy for her in a wrongful death suit; and finally throw out the religion card.

but it's the ones that are trying to 'play nice'; "be fair and reasonable" that really get my goat. it's gladney and larger pie that get me angry because they are so disingenuous.
ok - enough about that. i am not quitting the patch...as painful as it is to wade through the drivel, i cannot let them even fool themselves into believing that they won. it would be aiding and abetting disgusting behaviour.

ReplyDeleteRedress - Not to speal badly of anyone IMO Dr. Godwin is a very intelligent, insightful, and caring guy.. I think when Dr. Phil got involved he wanted things done his way. I respect that is how his production works. I honestly feel everyone loses when great minds that want to help arent given the chance.. In the end I think the family has to do what it feels is going to work to get the answers and justice.. Look at what they are going against.. The lame bed excuse is just another "we dont care about the Zahaus" IMO

Nina called RZ at 10:41 like RZ's phone records show; Nina leaving hospital at that time gives her just enough time to drive to the mansion to arrive at 11:00 p.m. - time witness said they saw a woman in the mansion driveway. I don't believe Nina would have just walked away...more likely she just walked in. Confrontation time would take you to around 11:30 p.m., when witness heard a female cry for help.
Timeline fits.

ReplyDeleteThere are some great people committed to keeping up the fight and not shutting up. We have to, this is a war against right and wrong if you ask me. They have the numbers, money, and control but we have the truth. It takes longer to win but it will as long as we just keep at it.. There may be times where someone needs to walk away for a while.. Thats understood, I dont think we are built to take this crap well, especially when we realize we could..just walk away.. The Zahau family doesnt have that option.. I have kind of forced myself not to have that option too.. If I stop in a way they win part of the battle.. Not if I can help it..

Wow I post too much but had a talk with someone earlier I just recalled and want to get feedback. SDSO has shown the bed hopped 7.5 inches.. No "sliding" was seen in the carpet. If Rebecca went over the rail as suggested there would be two bed movements not one. (Visualize) If Rebecca went over the rail it was head first. When the rope was fully extended Rebecca would still be feet over head like diving into a pool. The bed would jump once.. The her body would have swung around towards the ground causing the bed to slide. If you watch the Re-enactment in slow motion this is what you see. It happens fast but its a two step movement.. The bed at the crime scene moved once.. Thus being hung from below giving a single drop and a single hop of the bed.. Time to re-investigate the case yet? Can anyone disprove my theory please?

As you recall the front porch at 1043 Ocean Blvd. the Speckels Mansion...it's a visual OPEN property from the sidewalk/street area.I think Nina VOLUNTARILY told SDSO she was there at 10:00 pm Tuesday night - July 12,2011 because a car or two might have passed by and she was just covering her "steps" so to speak.The time line:

I DO NOT believe that statement....first off - Rebecca's last TEXT sister Mary was 9:53 pm so 7 minutes later -Rebecca would've HEARD the doorbell and there was no reason for her not to come down and open the door.The "hearsay" Jonah bad news call on Max wasn't for another 2 1/2 hours.Nina DID NOT ring the door bell at 10:00 pm.
I suspect that Nina came over in a rage to confront Rebecca with the news that the attending physician of Max claimed Max was suffocated before the fall.Nina was out of control at 10:00 pm based on her actions/statement later that night.Where did Nina go when she left the front porch? Did she meet Adam at the guest house? What do the phone records of those two show? Did Nina know where a spare key was in the back of the house given her sister (Dina) lived there only 2 years earlier and it's possible the locks weren't ever changed....something Anne Bremner's investigators should look into.
10:41 pm - incoming Text from Nina Romano..wasn't returned by Rebecca because she was either asleep at the time or overtaken/subdued by the intruder(s)before that time. Hmmm...Nina claims,"I just wanted to see if I could come over and talk to Rebecca." Wait a second...Nina you were ALREADY there 40 minutes earlier and didn't get a response so why would you think you'd get one now? Furthermore, why TEXT at such a late hour on a Tuesday night -19 minutes before 11 at night when you didn't even Text or Call Rebecca prior to your unannounced 10:00 pm visit? Average Joe told me the other day she thought the Nina 10:41 pm Text was a "cover" your steps Text.....seems logical.
I have never felt Adam's statements "rang true" to me and now with Nina's admission she was the person at the front porch at 10;00 pm and her statements....simply don't "ring
true" to me either so in my book....I consider Adam and Nina not witnesses rather...SUSPECTS in a homicide investigation.
Nina a few days ago in a email to SD News 8 claims her Text to Rebecca was at 9:41 pm not 10:41 pm.....a claim Nina made 6 weeks ago when RZ's phone vrecords were released....AT&T hasn't
admitted a mistake in 6 weeks and SDSO hasn't issued a statement that indicated a phone record mistake with that 10:41 pm Text to Rebecca.So I ask....had Nina been drinking and wasn't thinking clearly because her statements are very suspicious and why LIE and DENY the accuracy of the 10:41 pm Text to Rebecca? Why? Nina should've been called back to take a polygraph by Sheriff Gore/Nesbit...shoddy SDSO investigation.

I haven't formulated the "how" to it all, but my mind keeps coming back to Dina.
I have a hard time seeing Jonah involved in the actual "deed" because the note seems directed at him. Unless Adam wrote it to someone on his behalf, which still doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
As far as the bed, I can't even begin to claim to understand the physics of it. But it has always been hard for me to get over the balcony and how "undisturbed" it was. How could someone (even Rebecca herself) not disturb the dirt any more than one toe print and foot print?
Someone please remind me how big the balcony was? Is it feasible that someone could toss her without stepping foot on the balcony?
I haven't gotten a "Nina alone" vibe on this. Maybe because I've heard nothing about her as a person? And it is also hard for me to see Nina and Adam in cahoots. Not saying it is impossible, just seems too odd. My feelings are a J/A combo or a D/N combo...

Nina and Adam are both confirmed at the property along with Rebecca at 10:00pm Tuesday night and subsequently Rebecca died anywhere from 2 1/2 hours to 5 hours later.Both Nina and Adam have given highly suspicious statements to the SDSO investigators

The communications btwn. JS, AS and DS once Rebecca was found are wonky, as is his statement about his girlfriend he supposedly was going to marry. Rebecca's likened to a mere money grubbing babysitter on Patch, then we're reminded by the same crew he was about to propse? Which is it?? If they were getting engaged, he can't say a bit more than--how did someone put it--more than what I might say about the death of a co-worker?
JTR - Immediately following Max's accident, the wheels were in motion to clear the mansion: (1) board the dog, (2) fly Gabby & Ethan out, (3) fly Xena out (even though she had just arrived the previous day to spend 2 weeks), (4) empty the caretaker apartment (Caroline Niles and family had been living there for approx a year) and possibly an elderly couple that was renting the guesthouse (according to neighbors but not verified as yet).

ReplyDeleteI agree AJ. I don’t post much but read daily. I was actually bummed when the others arrived and ruined the dialogue on Patch and would hate to see it morph over here. The tone is lethal, they have nothing factual to offer and the offensive noise they create is deafening. (especially my fav’s sic & rodney) Having said that, I will continue to read, rather, review Patch in addition to a little bit of site housecleaning. Wish I had more testosterone in me so I could actively assist in fighting the feral cats, but I don’t. More of a chess player.
Robert, does LDC know about this. Looks like she checked out of Patch.

The person that told me should know, but since it was just one person we cant call it a confirmed fact. I am curious if your source makes that claim because he has seen both, confirmed it, or just has another source? I have seen pictures of the "before Jonah" and can say she looks nothing at all like she does now.
Hope and AJ - I think we can make a side blog off this one that is members only but I want to keep something open to people that want to keep up with the truth in this case but dont want to go officially in. Kinda why I keep plugging away at Patch..
Redress and others - I want to make sure everyone knows that if I personally counter or disagree with something you post it is not personal. ReplyDeleteJTR - Caroline Wong Niles, husband Paul and 4 children lived in either the guesthouse or the caretaker's apartment (have heard accounts of both) for a couple of years. Paul is a chef, they lived in Phoenix previously. CN has a page on FB. Paul's mother, Mrs. Niles, was JS' housekeeper in AZ. JS fired her, and the story goes that CN blamed Rebecca, something about RZ throwing photos away of DS and children. On Patch a while back, I think it was W(?) defended Mrs Niles vehemently over this issue.
There were a flutter of messages between RZ and CN on July 11 and 12, the last at 1:36PM.

Dina use to live at the mansion...knows the ADT security system and if Jonah never changed security codes...she's in.If Jonah didn't change locks after their divorce...Dina possibly still had a key.
Did SDSO get all the phone records from Dina,Nina,Adam,Jonah,etc.? Where did SDSO have Dina at 10:00 pm July 12 in their investigative report?

I can now report that Dina and Nina are not identical twins. They looked a lot more alike "before Jonah" but look even more different now.

Witness identifies D I N A at the front door at 10:00 pm July 12,2011 at 1043 Ocean St. property and police/invesigators DISMISS witness statement.Why? They didn't even organize a police line-up with Dina,Nina and 3 unknown women at their station to see if the witness could identify the woman he saw that night at 10:00 pm.This is yet another example of a shoddy-biased SDSO suicide-only investigation.

1-SDSO hadn't even reviewed the security tapes from Rady hospital this early in the investigation so it wasn't because Sheriff Gore/Lt.Nesbit had video/visual confirmation that Dina was in the hospital at 10:00 pm.
2-SDSO Sheriff Gore/Lt.Nesbit I assume just accepted the statement from Jonah that when he returned to Rady Hospital at 10:00 pm July 12,2011 Dina was still at Max's bedside which was stated in the Search Warrant Report.Here's the SDSO's statement in the Search Warrant.

"Dina returned to Rady Children's Hospital on July 12,2011 at 6:00 pm in the evening.Rebecca,along with Jonah's brother Adam,came to the hospital that night,and picked up Jonah and his friend Howard.After dropping Howard off at the airport,Adam,Rebecca and Jonah went out to dinner.Jonah returned to the hospital at approximately 10;00 pm.When Jonah returned to the hospital,DINA WAS STILL AT MAX'S BEDSIDE. So if you think the Witness is mistaken then why didn't SDSO Lt.Nesbit immediately dispute attorney Anne Bremner when she released several days ago that it wasn't Nina at the front door rather it was D I N A according to her witness that lives near the 1043 Ocean mansion. Which is why he determined Adam's inconclusive lie detector test meant Adam wasn't lying. And no doubt Dr Lub said he had nothing to do with anything, so he wasn't lying either. To Gore, the only ones lying are the eye witnesses and News 8. How dare these people come forth with facts that dismiss 'science' [accompanied by a hiss of sarcasm].

The "other side" has a personal agenda so anything is possible....all most of us want is the TRUTH by re-opening the investigation by a different LE department than Gore's SDSO.
Roger, great post! At this point it wouldn't surprise me if SDSO just took Jonah's word that "Dina was still at Max's bedside" that night.
ReplyDeleteI also wonder what Dina was doing on July 12th from 8am-10pm when she left Max's bedside. The search warrant just says, "At that time she went home to her residence in Coronado to rest" 12 hours (in my opinion) is a long time to be away from your critically injured sons bedside. The only way it kinda makes any sense is if Dina knew that Max would not recover from his injuries. I think the Dr.'s knew shortly after Max's arrival at RCH that he died at the bottom of the stairs and I think they gave Jonah and Dina this prognosis sometime on July 11th. I think Dina stayed with Max the night of the 11th saying her goodbyes. By the time she left at 8am the next morning she knew her son was gone. I feel if she believed there was any hope she wouldn't have left his bedside at all much less for 12 hours.
So, what did she do for the next 12 hours? Did SDSO confirm that she went home for 12 hours or did they just take her word for it.
From the SDSO press conference power point presentation, "Numerous witnesses were interviewed. All were cooperative and we are confident in their truthfulness"
Apparently a few "witnesses" weren't being truthful regarding their alibis. Sheriff Gore, did you verify their alibis or did you just take their word for where they said they were the night Rebecca died?

That's why SDSO referred to Jonah, Dina and Adam as "witnesses" on July 14. Couldn't agree with you more in that Jonah and Dina knew they had tragically lost their little boy by the afternoon of July 11.

1 - Adam Shacknai - questionable statements and actions when police arrived.Detective Patterson wrote that night in his Report this was a homicide investigation.Adam is brought down to station for polygraph test....he DID NOT pass test yet his suitcase,bedding from unmade bed (sheets,pillow cases,etc.)the glass with clear liquid were not on Search Warrant list and not tested.There was no SDSO reenactment of RZ balcony fall and no reenactment of how Adam cut her down standing on a 3 legged wooden table...the 4th leg has never been accounted for.There was no detective sent to Memphis to interview his tug boat boss about Adam and what his job entailed as it relates to ropes and rope knots.
Dina - well documented dislike for Rebecca.I'm still waiting for Gore/Nesbit to confirm by hospital video that shows DINA at hospital at 10:00 pm July 12,2011....if they don't or can't...another reason to re-open investigation by a different LE agency.Her fingerprints/footprints/toeprints and DNA should've been taken.
Jonah - if Gore/Nesbit didn't confirm Dina's hospital timeline via hospital security video then every statement he made needs to be reviewed at the hospital and RMH after Monday night.Jonah should've been asked for fingerprints and DNA as well.
Nina - her statements are so bizarre she should've been asked to take a polygraph test as well.Nina said in her email to News 8 a few days ago that she was at front door unannounced at 10:00 pm July 12,2011 and Rebecca never answered the doorbell yet she said 6 weeks ago explaining her 10:41 pm TEXT to Rebecca that ,"I just wanted to see if I could come by and talk." Why would she ask for permission to come by 41 minutes later when she had already supposedly showed up at 10;00 pm unannounced wanting to do the same thing? This bizarre chain of events gives some credence that it may have been Dina at the front door at 10:00 pm after all.Nina should've been asked foe fingerprints/footprints/toeprints and DNA.
Ted Greenberg - dog kennel owner picked up dog Ocean Tuesday morning July 12,2011 as was classified as a witness.His fingerprints/DNA should've also been taken.
Howard (Jonah's friend) - should have been considered a witness and his statements should've been taken.Howard was at the hospital with Dina and Jonah....LE Question: What was Dina's mood and reaction when she heard Dr.Peterson indicate Max might have been suffocated before the fall? Was she irate,angry,making threatening statements? The same Question to Jonah.
For those that think that's unfair to ask Howard these questions...I say why not in an honest unbiased investigation that detectives
should be searching for the TRUTH. After all, didn't SDSO seek out Rebecca's "state of mind" history even though she didn't take prescription medications and SDSO had the gall to use a sister's statement that 6 months earlier Rebecca was depressed and GORE/NESBIT SEIZED that statement in their suicide theory package.....even though she talked and TEXT her sister hours before her death and fervently said Rebecca was fine and not depressed.
Bottomline...if Rebecca's state of mind was agressively pursued ...why wasn't Dina's and Jonah's state of mine equally pursued given Dr.Peterson's inflamatory observation? I also think any witnesses that drove their cars or rental cars that had GPS installed should've had DATA reviewed as well to confirm statements with regard to time/ location/ date.

Is it even remotely possible that they might have been asking her (as the only adult present) about anyone else's possible involvement in the accident? I really can only see two motives for her murder: revenge or protecting someone else...

Suicide does not seem to fit the science in this case. Rebecca Zahau's injuries do not match either a long or short drop hanging. If she committed suicide it was from in the courtyard but none of the other evidence fits that scenario. Rebecca Zahau was murdered..

Extended interview with Nina talking - I can't imagine why Nina would give this kind of interview at this point. They must be scared to death that the neighbor is saying that he saw Dina. IMO, Nina is trying to protect Dina. There's just way too much information that Nina has spilled out and, again IMO, several times she sounds sarcastic. A skeptic might say that if she can't hold back the sarcasm in an interview, then no telling how sarcastic she was toward RZ and might be a reason why RZ wasn't so forthcoming (if true).
Please listen to the Nina audio recording - Nina says she texted RZ the message from her sister's house and then she said she "walked up to the mansion".....I've often wondered if someone "walked" to the mansion.

Noticed no lights where Adam was staying. Her car was in the driveway. Thought maybe they went to dinner because in Coronado people walk.

The anger or questioning Rebecca wasn't watching Max good enough....the kid was a vibrant 6 yr. old boy at 10 in the morning...not 6 months old.The Coronado PD didn't have a problem with Rebecca's story nor did they ask for a polygraph nor did your sister Dina or the boy's father Jonah object to Max's Autopsy Report by Dr.Jonathan Lucas that "shot down" Dr. Peterson's "suffocation" inflammatory opinion by saying,"This pattern of injuries is consistent with a face first impact on the floor from a fallcausing the skull fracture,hyperextension of the neck (bending the neck backward),and subsequent injury of the spinal cord.A spinal cord injury at this level can cause cardiorespiratory arrest (cessation of heart activity and/or breathing) which explains the decedent's loss of blood flow and oxygen on the day he fell.The time between this event (Max fall)and when his pulse was regained 25-30 minutes later resulted in irrreversable damage to his brain,which ultimately led to his death 5 days later."
This would also make some to question what kind of different medical news Jonah had at such a late hour to call Rebecca at 12:30 am July 13,2011 with such news that Sheriff Gore says sent RZ in an emotional tailspin to suicide....problem is...Max's condition was the same throughout and never changed....he was on life support when he arrived Monday afternoon and 5 days later.

Therefore, just as has been requested of Sheriff Gore, please provide such substantiated evidence to back up your opinion and feelings.

Anonymous - I disagree.. This has nothing to do with calling anyone anything but about getting the truth. Many have felt from the beginning that this looks and feels nothing like a suicide and the circumstances around it seem just a little fishy. Myself like others waited for the question to be answered "how in the world could this be suicide?" and September 2, 2011 we were told nothing. SDSO instead put on a show it was hoping people would buy, we did not. SDSO never showed Motive, Means, and Opportunity and that in my opinion made those like the Zahau family and those you seek here seek out those answers ourselves. The evidence points to the Shacknai family.. Not the people..

If she was responsible for Max's death rhan she should have been made to pay through the judicial process. Revenge should not be allowed in our society, and if we allow this we are condemning ourselves as a civil culture..
If this was suicide, then prove it with the evidence..

Nina and others that hide their names on websites attacking Rebecca's character by suggesting she murdered Max shows their low level IQ "trailer trash" mentality.

Because in my opinion, Nina’s statement lacks compassion for Rebecca in any way whatsoever. It seems that the only reason Dina wishes Rebecca was still alive is so she could ask her what happened in that house. Appears to be a very cold and selfish person. Nina’s statement regarding Dina does not reflect any kindness towards Rebecca, nor care that she is gone. Of course, as Nina would say IMO.
My measley opinion, FWIW is, as far as the goblins go... (and I think we know them when we see them)...ignore and delete.

it basically means that it cannot be used in a court of law.

ReplyDeleteRedress - Got the email thanks. NCIC8146 - Is still in the hospital but recovering well. He had a few things wrong so it took the doctors a while to figure it out and get him on the right meds/treatment.. Hopefully he will be home sometime this week but it will still take him some time to recover. I update him everyday on the case. He is very happy with the progress and looking forward to getting back in the fight.

ReplyDeleteGood morning, Everyone. I haven't had time yet to listen to Nina's interview. Did the interviewer ask her where Dina was at 10:00 that night or where Nina's young son was at this time? A poster at Hinky theorized that when Nina went around to the side gate (if it was Nina) and saw the light on in the balcony room, she could tell something was going on up there and she skidaddled her butt back to Dina's in a hurry.

Hi, I am new here but have been reading all the interesting posts. I have a question and observation. Does anyone know when MS AR was issued? I see that the autopsy was done on 7/18 but was wondering when it was completed. The reason I ask is because his AR done on 7/18 states that "The decedent's father's girlfriend passed away at the house two days after the fall (M.E. case 11-1517), committing suicide by hanging."

Sorry, the point of my first post was that MS AR report was done on 7/18 and it stated Rebecca committed suicide. So are we to assume that her cause of death had already been decided on 7/18 since her AR is footnoted in his AR?

I,too,despite feeling glad they are going on Phil, wonder about the outcome of all this. Hopefully just public outrage alone could spur a new investigation? I remember hearing on Dr. Drew about the new findings, if there were any that supported murder, couldn't be used in court. But could they force a new investigation??

ReplyDeleteIt does not matter what Rebecca did - you cannot kill any one up for no matter what reason and i hope Shacknia family pay for this crime. In the "real world" people go to jail all the time for commiting such a crime. It is against the law.

There are still so many questions that nobody has answered and for the detectives to leave it at suicide so quickly leads me to believe they were all paid or something.

Although this story does not relate to Rebecca, I thought this article is interesting regarding the psychological study taken. Thought of SDSO. Love the last two sentences.

Redress - I disagree that the second autopsy would be dismissed in court. The credibility of the autopsy rest on the reputation and documentation of the examiner doing it. Dr. W is well known and respected in his field and I am sure they documented and maybe video taped the whole thing. The second autopsy will definitely "hold up" in court regardless of what you may have heard. Unlike SDSO the Zahau family have done everything "By the book" because they must if they hope to get results.
ReplyDeleteThe Shacknais and SDSO are probably real upset the Zahau family didnt beg for their permission but everyone knows what the answer would have been if they did. My guess is they requested SDSO to be present during the second autopsy but SDSO refuses to do anything that may support this victim's family. The Zahau family was forced to do what it had to since before the exhumation there was zero cooperation from SDSO!

The mansion is less than 15 minutes from the hospital instead he went to a hotel usually used by low income long stay families. Why didn't his brother and girlfriend stay at Ronald McDonald house, or at least his girlfriend? I think her murder was very planned out when they found out from the doctor he suspected someone smothered the boy. San Diego Sheriff did a poor investigation and is now trying to cover it up because they can not admit they were out smarted.

For the good of individuals and society, such emotions need to be kept under the control of rational thought not allowed to blossom with the help of Law Enforcement. The Shacknai family are no strangers of greed and envy and now they know revenge and hatred all too well. You can hear the hatred in the aunts voice revenge seems to have been to easy for her or the others to carry out in Rebecca's murder!!.

ReplyDeleteI'm trying to digest NR's interview. There is so much there that is bizarre. It seems to me she is trying to spin so much. Dark nigh, dark clothes, didn't touch the fence, the only light on being the room RZ hung herself, assumptions that she was out to dinner, etc.. Well, we know it was at least close to a full moon. Also, if she RZ didn't open the door, why would't she go talk to Adam? She was on a mission to talk to RZ, yet she just calmly left after a couple minutes? And finally, she said RZ didn't answer the phone but she knew the phone was on. I don't get that one. Is it because she knew the phone rang later? Am I missing something? If anything, her interview confirms what I've been thinking all along. Someone killed Rebecca.

Arizona is 1 hour ahead of California.However,AZ hasn't had Daylight Savings Time in over 40 years and CA moves their clocks UP 1 hour on the 2nd Saturday of March so since mid March thru July 12,2011 = CA and AZ have had EXACT same time.

The only time this 1 hour TEXT difference would show up between CA/AZ residents would be prior to the 2nd Saturday in March but the time stamp difference in this case was nearly 4 months that both CA/AZ had EXACT same time.
So why the discrepancy?

CA times can change 1 hour up or down depending when DST is activated.AZ time doesn't change so it appear this is Verizon problem.

ReplyDeleteI agree....NINA says she TEXT Rebecca at 9:41 pm and must've waited 34 minutes (10:15 PM) without answer to show up at 10:20 pm at her front door.Then she seems so surprised the house is dark and Rebecca's car is in driveway and she's not answering the doorbell.....never occurs to the self absorbed NINA that Rebecca has had an emotional draining last 36 hours and might be SOUND ASLEEP with picking her up at airport on Monday,dropping off Xena and picking up Adam,placing Ocean at the dog kennel,telling the house guests they must clear out by Tuesday,etc.

Of course, society needs to protect itself from criminals. This is done by improving law-enforcement methods, correcting social conditions that contribute to crime, incarcerating those who are a danger to society, rehabilitating criminals who aren't incorrigible, and deterring people from becoming lawbreakers.
ReplyDeleteWhen the San Diego Sheriff Department allows the murderers of Rebecca Zahau to walk free unchallenged it sinks to the lowest form using vengeance and hatred, the wrong message is sent. The results are destructive chaos and ill will against Law Enforcement and successful citizens. Bad apples are found in all classes and wealth should not conclude the level of justice people receive.
Nina didnt say she thought Rebecca killed Max but Rebecca knew more than she was saying.. Maybe Rebecca knew about who caused Max's fall but did not say anything and she was killed before she could tell what really happened.. Everyone interviewed said she was not remorseful so mayne this is more motive for murder than suicide.. She was killed because her life was considered less valuable than the person that actually hurt and eventually killed Max.. Thank you Nina for another Murder Motive.. when we find the killer we will find out the truth..

Take a high profile case, turn on the camera and give a ruling a nine year old could come up with it just begs to be ridiculed and questioned. Didnt they know this was hoing to be on the news? Not even a stick drawing re-enactment? Did they seriously think everyone was going to be cool with that lame "dog and pony" show? Or did they seriously just say to themselves.. We are SDSO and we answer to nobody? Re-investigate or at least explain the ruling using actual evidence that proves conclusively.. And one more person say there was fingerprint on the rope I am gonna do a backflip.. There is zero evidence thar rule conclusively suicide. ReplyDeleteThe death of a child is heartbreaking but this was just her boyfriend's son not her own and there's nothing to suggest she was at fault or felt guilty. Most likely her death was retribution as it seems someone thought she was at fault because of what a doctor believed. I see many lawsuits and prison terms in the future.

ReplyDeleteIt is very sad that non related factors determine if a death is suicide in our country. Like, if you are wealthy, most suicides are considered accidents. If there is no note, it was an accident, in most cases. But, if it was someone like Rebecca Zahau, then it is automatically assumed to have been a suicide, even though she could have been as easily killed by a very wealthy and powerful individual.

I would add to your comment, "Any Woman-regardless of age". This fact alone tells me it was very personal. No hired killer, unless he/she was from Holllywood, would hang her in this fashion.

Watched the Dr. Phil show and conclude she was murdered. Not good at writing but wanted to express a thank you to you folks here who are trying to right a wrong and bring about justice for Rebecca. Bless you all. There should be more people like you in this world.
ReplyDeleteThe San Diego Sheriff's Office has been sitting on this evidence since the first days of their investigation, yet they chose to confirm only that evidence that pointed towards suicide. There is an ugly word for this type of investigation: B-I-A-S-E-D.
ReplyDeleteIs this an Abbot and Castello skit? Gore states they will reopen the case if presented with new evidence. There already IS enough OLD evidence that clearly points towards foul play: Irrelevant. Witnesses made statements they heard screams at approximately the time Nina Romano, Jonah's ex-wife's sister, was seen at the mansion behaving suspiciously: Irrelevant. Black latex gloves: Irrelevant. Blood, clumps of hair, head wounds: Irrelevant. LDT by Adam, Jonah's brother, inconclusive: Irrelevant. Conclusions of a second autopsy performed by renown Dr Wecht that clearly state manner of death undetermined at best: Irrelevant. There is an ugly word for this type of conduct by elected official: C-O-R-R-U-P-T
In light of DA Dumanis' and Mayor Sanders' deafening silence, it has become painfully clear that the only recourse for restoring honor and justice to San Diego is: Call in the F-B-I and see to it that Gore and his cohorts become: I-R-R-E-L-E-V-A-N-T immediately.

The San Diego Sheriff's Office confirmed their bias within 24 hours of Ms Zahau's death. Although all evidence in this case points clearly towards homicide, San Diego Sheriff Gore orchestrated an investigation that blatantly chose to ignore compelling evidence found at the crime scene: latex gloves with mixed DNA, mixed DNA in Ms Zahau's fingernail clippings, blood and a clump of hair found in the shower, panties and clump of hair found in the guesthouse where the brother stayed that night, 4 head wounds caused by a rounded blunt object, additional shoe prints found on the balcony, destroyed and nonexistent crucial evidence to name just a few.
Several witnesses came forward, neighbors heard a woman's screams for help at around 10:20 that night yet Sheriff Gore dismissed this as irrelevant. A man out riding his bicycle with his family saw Mr Shacknai's ex sister-in-law at the mansion at approximately the same time, stating she was acting in a bizarre manner. Yet the ex sister-in-law was never required to take a lie detector test. The brother's lie detector test was inconclusive, yet never repeated. Mr Shacknai nor Dina Shacknai were fingerprinted nor requested to supply DNA samples. Their whereabouts on the evening/early morning of Ms Zahau's death have never been confirmed conclusively, only hearsay.
There is more than sufficient OLD evidence to warrant a new investigation. Couple this with renown pathologist Dr Wecht's conclusions and NEW evidence that has been disclosed, the one and only right thing to do is for Attorney General Kamala Harris or the FBI step in. At this juncture the case cries out for (1) a thorough independent investigation into Ms Zahau's death and (2) a thorough investigation into what can only be referred to as influence and corruption within the San Diego Sheriff's Office.
If we, as San Diego residents, are ever to regain trust and faith in our city's law enforcement and judicial system, we can stop at nothing short of demanding transparency and honesty from those for whom our tax dollars maintain in office. In this case that includes Sheriff William Gore, DA Bonnie Dumanis and Mayor Jerry Sanders. Amen.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the witness on the bicycle who got a good look since he was stopped on the sidewalk waiting for his children to catch up, identified the woman behaving in a bizarre manner pacing back and forth along the driveway as Dina. Of course it was Nina who confessed (ad nauseum) that she was there around 10:00 - 10:20pm. So we have a few options of what was really going on at that time at the mansion: it was Nina he saw outside, or it was Dina he saw outside, or one or the other was outside and the other already inside. JMO
ReplyDeleteThere is also an article in the UT (San Diego Union Tribune). Seems as if they actually had an interview with Gore. It is obvious that he has no intention of re-opening the case. His reasoning is sound... IF you haven't been paying any attention to the case and to the discrepancies. In typical UT fashion, it was written more as a fluff piece to sway public opinion. However, what I found to be ironic was toward the end of the article. He is saying that the Dr. Phil show was biased and picked things to show and didn't look at the whole picture. He used the example of the panties found in the guest house. Said they could be EITHER Gabby's or one of her friends that stayed in the guest house. In other words, they don't know! They didn't investigate it! If they did, then they would know for sure who they belonged to. Just one of many examples.

Crime Scene Man - well there was some dna on knife,door knob,etc. but yada yada we couldn't collect any only Rebecca Zahau.There was never a thought if she was murdered the killer(s)wiped off their dna,fingerprints,etc. I thought I read somewhere this week that the room in question....Xena slept in the night before...if so, where's her fingerprints and dna?
ReplyDeleteSheriff Gore- wasn't qualified for this TOP position...he needs to "control" media/opinion and he is way too "thin-skinned" which is why he doesn't like media questions in an OPEN forum.Gore isn't seeking the TRUTH in this case...he's defending the criticism of his investigation.He blasts Dr.Phil,Dr.Wecht,Anne Bremner,News 8 reenactment of bed moving 36 inches vs 7 1/2 inches noted in Autopsy Report...anything and everything contrary to his investigation is "bully-slammed" by Gore and his Department spokesperson.
The woman undergarments found in garbage in guest house not tested claimed Anne Bremner...Gore slammed her..."we know that Gabby and some of her friends were staying there off and on" ...what a short-sided unprofessional statement....first off...who was staying there on July 11? Furthermore,those undergarments were found in the sleeping quarters of a witness that later didn't pass a polygraph test.Those undergarments should've been tested,his suitcase should've taken as Search Warrant item along with the bed sheets/pillow cases from unmade bed after listening to Adam's 911 call where he asked the body,"are you still alive." That odd exchange may reflect that Adam didn't sleep that night.Was Adam wearing the same clothes on Wed.morning as he was when he arrived in SD the day before? If not, where are the other clothes...in a closed suitcase.These questions should've been asked and Adam's clothes should've been processed for fibers,dna,blood,etc.

Dr.Jonathan Lucas -the brash/young SD M.E. trying to defend his findings vs the far more experienced Dr.Cyril Wecht...."well...3 of those 4 scalp hemorrhages were only nickel sized"....that comment right there shows his inexperience as an M.E.
Does anyone know what the "tech expert" Gore was saying about the cause of RZ's computer coming on at 3:02 am was a toolbar update?
Finally, I would like to say it's been 4 months and 4 days since Rebecca was found and yet we still do not know why ADT security couldn't provide crucial house data reports from July 12 and 13. The mumbled Gore response at Sept.2nd PC that "system wasn't working properly" just doesn't explain the lack of data.There are millions of people around the world that have home security systems and many have ADT...they understand "sensors" and data reports,etc. Where is the interview Report with ADT Coronado manager or did Gore just rely on Jonah saying," it wasn't working properly." If so, a pattern has develped with Gore/Jonah because Gore believed Jonah on the "grave news" phone call about Max to Rebecca at 12:30am on July 13, 2011 that led to her emotional downhill free-fall yet that message was erased at 12:50am so it's hearsay evidence...yes,erased at 12:50am -10 minutes before M.E. Lucas Estimate Time Of Death arc...1:00am -3:00am.We still haven't heard from Gore that he confirmed Dr.Peterson gave Jonah that "grave news" so late at night on July 12 or early am hours July 13....why is that? What do Max's hospital records show? All we have is the Autopsy Report from M.E.Lucas that said Max's "grave condition" began Monday morning and never changed until they pulled the plug 5 days later.This investigation is a "house of cards" and the SD DA Bonnie Dumanis and SD Mayor's silence makes me wonder if Anne Bremner shouldn't file charges to Eric Holder at the Justice Dept. on grounds FOR A CONSPIRACY TO COVER UP A MURDER.

Question re: the knives. There were three found, correct? Two had only Rebecca's fingerprints and one had no prints (and traveled mysteriously). My understanding is that all three were found in the bedroom. What happened to the knife Adam used to "cut" her down? Was a knife found in the courtyard with his prints on it?

ReplyDeleteThe knives: 2 knives found in hanging room, 1 had only Rebecca's prints and DNA, the other had nothing, nada. That knife walked into that room. (Even an alien would leave tracks behind.) The third knife was found in the courtyard and was allegedly used by Adam. Oddly enough this knife had no DNA nor fingerprints.
The knife block: obviously should have been checked for missing knives. Not made public. Also no shreds of red rope. One heck of a sharp knife!
Leg of table: Allegedly the leg broke when Adam pulled to table under the balcony. As far as I know the whereabouts of the leg has not been disclosed.
Joe, he pulled it under her to cut her down, it fell off but he used it anyway to cut her down and didn't bust his a**??

Yeah, I just loved it when SDSO said DNA was transferrable by even a breath...give me a friggin' break.
